Transition Plan for SA-1110 Customers

ADS is pleased to provide the following outline for the ADS roadmap and options related to the discontinuance of the SA-1110 applications processor from Intel. ADS is committed to working with each customer to meet project requirements and ensure continuance of business. The following highlights the details:
  • Intel announced the SA-1110 end of life (EOL) in January 2003.

  • ADS is committed to building StrongARM products through January 2005.

  • ADS has developed replacement products for our StrongARM boards. Our new XScale line of products (PXA255) include the BitsyX, GCX, AGX and VGX. We would be glad to discuss with you the new boards to ensure that your requirements are met.

  • Should you wish for ADS to stock SA-1110 chips beyond January 2005, ADS will work with you to create a mutual plan to meet your long-term requirements.

  • ADS will work closely with you to transition to the new board.

  • ADS is committed that there will be no business interruption with the transition. We anticipate that the transition to the new board will be in parallel with the continuance of SA-1110 production units.
Please feel free to contact ADS Sales for any additional information.

Regards,

Jack Ottensoser

I don't think you really answered the original question. How long will off the shelf Bitsy Plus boards be available?

As Jack wrote, we are committed to producing SA-1110 devices, including the Bitsy Plus, through January of 2005. If you need devices beyond that time, contact our Sales staff to discuss alternatives such as pre-ordering either boards or components for longer-term delivery.
