We have to start using Thawte certificate with SHA-256 on a GCX with WinCE 5.00.26.

So far it fails, I would like to know if CE 5.00.26 even support SHA-256.

You might take a look at the features of the Microsoft Enhanced Cryptographic Provider for CE 5.0 listed at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms925939.aspx

It looks like SHA-256 might have been added in the Enhanced Provider for CE 6
