Lately I'm having trouble getting ActiveSync to connect.
Symptoms:
Sometimes connects.... Most times doesn't. Either I multiple retries then no error or: Cannot start communication with the destop computer. Remote Networking could not start tue to a critical error (Error 678)
Please reconnect your device. If the problem persist, restart your device using the instructions provided by the manufacturer.
The development system is a Win2K laptop running ActiveSync 3.5
Hi Brian. Thanks for the details. We've gotten reports over time that the MS USB ActiveSync driver for PCs doesn't run consistently on all PCs (see the conversation under the USB ActiveSync driver download for details).
Generally, we've been recommending that developers use Ethernet ActiveSync for development, as it runs much faster than USB or serial and is very reliable.
We've got a clean laptop here running Win XP Pro that we'll try out with USB ActiveSync and Bitsy CE 3.17 to see if we have the same problem you're seeing. USB ActiveSync works reliably on PCs here, so it's been tough to even reproduce problems reported by our customers.
Thank you for the reply. My Laptop is an IBM Thinkpad T21 running windows 2000. With all the service packs etc. I'd love to run with ethernet, but I was under the impression that ethernet isn't available on my bitsy or the bitsy compact flash connector board. So that isn't a solution for me.
If you have a laptop what is the chances that you try out the IrDA adaptors with it and let me know how that goes?
