Q. Can CE be built to support specific languages?

Yes. ADS creates its standard CE builds for English, but has also created builds to support specific languages.

Application-Level Language Support

There are several ways to support other languages under Windows CE that may not require a language-specific build:
  • Use language-specific libraries (e.g. MFC) for the application;

  • Use third-party language support;

  • Install fonts for the specific language.

If a Custom Build is Needed...

We've built CE images for a number of Asian and European languages. If you need a CE build for a production run of systems that is not in English, please email us details about your application requirements. Details we'll need to know include the following:
  • ADS product;

  • The language(s) you want to use;

  • Operating system version (CE 3.0, 4.x, etc);

  • Type of language support you'll need (listed below in increasing level of complexity):

    1. Fonts (display information in application),

    2. Language-specific user text input,

    3. Language-specific system menus and dialog boxes.
