* Debian Installer for the ADS Debian Distribution * This directory can be used to install ADS Debian (or stock Debian) from scratch on an ADS board. This is only recommended if you are already familiar with installing Debian. The system to be installed should have a USB hard drive, which Debian will be installed to, and a compact flash, which will be used for booting the installer. 1) Copy the appropriate boot .txt files for your system onto the compact flash. To install Debian without ADS additions, in a fully interactive mode, edit the cmdline.txt file or install_config.txt file and remove everything from "preseed/url" on to the end of the line. Note that we recommend using the ADS additions, as this will semi-automatically install a system much like the Debian system we provide in a tarball, with working X, etc. 2) Copy the ramdisk.gz from this directory to the compact flash. Alternatively, you can use an initrd from any version of the Debian installer built after September 7th, 2005. For details, see http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/ 3) Download a proper kernel for your ADS board and place it on the compact flash as a file named "zImage". 4) Boot the system from compact flash and proceed with the first stage of installation. 5) After installation is complete, remove the compact flash and replace the boot .txt files placed on it in step 1 above with the boot .txt files needed to boot Debian from a USB hard drive. These files can be found in the debian-full-root accompnying this directory. 6) Boot Debian and complete the second stage of the installation process.
