We have Graphics Client Plus system. We have several problems:
1) The GCS doesn't want to connect to Host system via ActiveSync. We tried ActiveSync versions 3.5, 3.6 and 3.7. Connection is through serial port. THe port itself works properly - in debug mode connection through COM3 to HyperTerminal is normal. Connection procedure is as written in "Developer's getting started guide" ADS doc#411010-1104A.
2) How can we download new OS image to the device and save it to the flash using serial or Ethernet line? We do not have ATA device to use it as image source as it is written in the same document.
3) Are there new image for GCP WinCE.NET 64M having built-in the new feature "ADS Persistent Registry"? Or is this application available separately?
4) Are there any possibilities to change Ethernet card (IP, etc) and serial lines settings without previously pointed "ADS Persistent Registry" or downloading new preconfigured image?
5) How can we download ready-for-use image (NKLOAD.BIN) using Platform builder?

6) How can we understand do we have in the pre-loaded image CAN library included? If not, how can we download it and install to GCP? Are there any documentation about CAN library - programmers guide, etc. ?

Regards,
Ivan

Thanks for your message. Here are some answers:

1. ActiveSync. It's possible that there could be a cable problem; or it could be something else. Please let us know what organization you're with so I can look up what we shipped you.

2. CF/ATA cards are the primary method for changing the CE image on our systems. While there are other methods documented on our forums, we don't support development without having an ATA card reader. Can you purchase a USB reader/writer for your development? PCMCIA slots on laptops work, as well.

3. The persistent registry feature requires an updated boot ROM to deal with the different mapping of files in flash. Once you've let us know the details in #1, we can advise you about what builds your system will support.

4. Historically, the ADSLOAD.REG file was the way to change the CE system settings. Again, you will need a CF card reader as described in #2.

5. Our products are considered "application-ready" and do not require Platform Builder. If your application requires that you build your own image, we have a subscription program for the CE BSP. Please contact our sales group for details.

6. The CAN libraries for GC Plus have traditionally been loaded separately from the image. See topic 121 for details about how to get the drivers.

Feel free to contact us directly to work out the specific problems with your development system. You can write us at support.us@eurotech.com.
