Hello again

I have been using this call to try and get a unique Device ID for use in identifying different units which access a web service:
KernelIoControl(IOCTL_HAL_GET_DEVICEID, IntPtr.Zero, 0, outbuff, nBuffSize, ref dwOutBytes)

It always works but I notice on my new VGX that I'm getting the same value back as from my old AGX unit. That is:
49006E00740065006C0028005200290020005000580041003200350030000000-4E4B4E6F4B69746C0000000000000000

I was wondering if we can count on a unique identifier for each machine.

thanks,
Tom Dorgan.

I'm not familiar with this IOCTL, and am not sure that we currently support it, but will check.

If you're looking for a unique, software-readable identifier for each system you purchase, the flash id is a good bet. Take a look at topic 1242 for details about how to read it.
