When the system is set to boot from ATA (i.e. CF Card formatted in FAT16), the manual indicates that the "device copies the OS from an installed ATA storage card directly to RAM and boots".
Does this include *all* the ADS files (ADSLoad.exe, .reg, .hwt)? Or only NK.bin? Or some other subset?
Thanks! |

Thanks for your note. The boot-from-ATA is intended for development, and not really for production. It reads the nk.bin, but I don't recall that it reads the hwt or reg files.
If it's important for your production application, we can look into it further. |

We're concerned about field upgrades. But even field upgrades are hard, as our box is not meant to be opened. So, remote upgrade via FTP would be best. The boot from ATA option seems like a good candidate, but it would need to run ADSLoad.exe from ATA, and use the ADSLoad.reg & hwt files from ATA also (for a consistent boot).
Then we could FTP over a new set of files and, with any luck, avoid having to bring units back to the factory to enable new features, fix O.S. version bugs, etc.
Unless y'all have a better idea? |
