ADS Forum FAQ

Q: I've clicked on a Link but I'm getting an error that says "You do not have access to this forum." What does this mean?
A: Many of our Forums contain information specific to ADS products. As such we provide controlled access to the information by requiring that you either own a development system or contact one of our sales people to get access rights. If you already own a development system, your development system number or sales order number should be used as your Access Code when registering for the forums. If you do not currently own a development system, contact our sales staff for a provisional Access Code.

Q: I created an account but I'm getting an error saying I do not have access to the forums. What is wrong?
A: There are two possible reasons for this.

  1. Make sure you are actually logged into the forums (creating an account does not log you in automatically). In the upper right of the Forums pages will be either a message that you are 'Logged in as {username}' or there will be input boxes for your username and password.
  2. Did you enter your development system Access Code when creating your account? If you did not enter an access code or entered an invalid code, you will only have access to the FAQ and the Documents Forum. If you need access to the other Forums you can either create another account with a new Username or contact the support team to update your existing forum account for full access.

Q: I'm having trouble finding information. How are the Forum Topics organized?
A: The Forum topics are grouped by general relevance and listed with the most recently changed. posted or replied to topics at the top. While this makes following discussions and new items easy, it does tend to push common but rarely changing items to the bottom or to another page. We've put quick links to several common Forum Topics in the menu to the left, but if the item you're looking for isn't there, try a forum Search (see below).

Q: Can I find information without sequentially searching all of the posts?
A: Absolutely. The Forums are database-driven and therefore have a Search function that allows you to find information by keyword. A link to the Search form can be found on every Forum page in the upper-right corner.

Q: Is there a way to be automatically notified when my forum question is answered or when something gets updated?
A: Yes. The Forums allow you to create your own subscriptions. By subscribing to a Topic or Forum, you will be notified by email of any changes to that Topic or Forum. To subscribe to a Topic or Forum, click on the icon corresponding to that item. You can view and manage your subsscriptions through the 'My Subscriptions' link in the upper right corner of all Forums forms.
