Q: I would like to display large fonts on the screen. How do I get rid of the jagged edges?
The most important issue is to select a CE font that was created for large type displays. Most fonts are designed for 8-12 point display.
Background: Microsoft uses anti-aliasing technology in many of its products to make fonts look less jagged. Anti-aliasing uses gray-scale pixels to make diagonal lines look smoother (see MS fonts page). In Windows CE, DDI.DLL performs font smoothing. It is not clear that this Microsoft library for the StrongARM includes facilities for anti-aliasing text. If text aliasing is an impediment to your application development, please contact the ADS Sales team to further investigate your options.
