I've upgraded the operating system to CE 4.12 on my Bitsy Plus, and can no longer connect via serial comms on Active sync 3.7. I can connect using USB however, but do need serial as well. I changed the os back to what I was originally using (CE 3.0) and it connects up fine. So please tell me what the problem is and how to connect via the serial link with active sync on CE 4.12
p.s. I also tried it on CE 4.13 an it didn't work either.

If you roll back to ActiveSync version 3.5 (Build 1176). This will work with Serial port and USB. It will work for both CE.NET 4.12 and CE.NET 4.13

Hello dtran,
I have tried to connect my Bitsy CE.NET 4.12 with my laptop via ActiveSync 3.5 but it doesn't work. What setup do I need to make it work ?

Hi Khoa,

After review your ADSLOAD.REG file, please change the following line in "ActiveSync Assignment" Registry from

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Comm]
"Cnct"="com3" ; for COM3
to

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Comm]
"Cnct"="19200@com3" ; for COM3

Hi dzuy,

I changed the registry key as you recommended. When I executed the Repplog.exe I saw the dialog box "Connection to 19200@com3" and the Bitsy hung out. nothing works, the keyboard neither mouse...

I use the ActiveSync 3.5 (built 12007) I don't have the built 1176. Do you think that it is the problem ?

Thanks

I'd recommend that you do the following:

  • Upgrade ActiveSync to 3.6
  • In your device's Control Panel, manually change the PC Connection to use COM3 and try connecting before resetting the device

What is the status of ActiveSync on PC?
Is Green circle spinning when you connect serial cable?

If not, please give us the jumper settings of JP2 & JP3.

Hi Whuh,

What is the status of ActiveSync on PC?
-> when I start ActiveSync, a wizard Get Connected starts --> Checking COM ports --> a message Your device was not detected.

Is Green circle spinning when you connect serial cable?
-> No

If not, please give us the jumper settings of JP2 & JP3.
--> JP1 , JP2 at nothing
--> JP3 at 2-3 position (5V)
--> JP4 at 1-2 position (3.3V)

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks
