Q: I have a PCMCIA modem. How can I configure it and/or communicate with it directly?

Select the Properties of your dial-up connection. Under Configure..., Port Settings, check the "Manual Dial" box. When you initiate a connection, CE drops to a terminal window. You can enter AT commands to communicate with the modem directly (e.g. AT&V to display current settings, ATI4 for modem type or ATDTnnn where nnn is a valid phone number). This will work with any kind of modem successfully connected to your device.
