CECONFIG.H

CEconfig.h is a file generated when Platform Builder creates a new CE image. It describes the features that were selected when creating the build. ADS has been including this file with CE build releases, along with a number of other descriptive files, since Microsoft changed the CE licensing model in CE .NET 4.2.

Analyzing ceconfig.h

The Windows CE Run-time License Assessment Tool for desktop Win32 PCs (download link below) analyzes the ceconfig.h file to determine the licensing model that applies to the build you are using.

The app requires that MS .NET Framework 1.1 or later (download link below) to be installed on your computer.

A Note About Assessing CE 6.0 Builds

You may encounter a glitch using the Run-Time License Assessment Tool for CE 6.0 builds: The tool requires both Visual Studio and Platform Builder. If you don't have both those apps, drop back to using the CE 5.0 Tool; you should get a pretty accurate result.
