Q: I have a Cisco PCM350 802.11b card that I have been using with ADS systems. I recently upgraded my ADS device's CE build and now I get the following error when I insert the card:

Wireless Login Module: Error!! this version of WLM requires version 5.40.xx or newer to support EAP-FAST!

What's going on?

Cisco release a new driver (v2.50) that supports EAP-FAST, and we have upgraded our images. The new driver requires that the cards have firmware version 5.40.xx or newer to use these new features. Cards with older firmware will display this message.

You can upgrade existing cards with old firmware by using the Cisco driver UI itself by doing the following:

  1. Dowload the newer firmware and place it on a storage card
  2. Insert the storage card into your already-running ADS system
  3. Run the Cisco Aironet Client Utility (acu.exe) on the device
  4. Choose the 'Firmware' tab
  5. Tap the 'Browse' button and browse to the firmware file on the card you inserted and tap 'OK'
