Converting from Linux with u-boot to Windows CE

This topic describes the basics of converting an ADS system that uses Linux with u-boot to Windows CE.

QUICK SUMMARY

Converting from Linux u-boot to CE consists of two steps:
  1. Reload the boot code:
    - Rename the adsload.rom file to u-boot.bin.
    - Place it on a CompactFlash, MMC, or USB device and insert it into the system.
    - Press a key during boot to get to the u-boot menu.
    - Run the following command to reload the boot code:
    CF/PCMCIA: run p_reprogram_uboot
    USB: run usb_reprogram_uboot
    MMC: run mmc_reprogram_uboot

  2. Load the new operating system.
Follow standard procedures for loading Windows CE

Warning! Most ADS products store the boot code in flash. Performing this procedure runs the risk of rendering your system unbootable. If this occurs, you will have to return your system to ADS for reprogramming. Charges may apply.
