I'm trying to do serial communications from Bitsy (Win CE 3.0) to another device. This other device uses RTS/CTS flow control.

Writing to this device works, but reading from this device does not work.

My code works fine (reading and writing) from an emulator and on other popular CE devices.

When using hyperterminal on a PC to act as a dummy other device, everything (reading and writing) works fine IF (and only if) the setting "No flow control" is used on the PC, even though my software on Bitsy uses hardware flow control.

I looks as if Bitsy's serial ports do not support hardware flow control.

I've tried different types of serial cables (some that work with ActiveSync and some that don't work with ActiveSync).

What do I have to do get the serial communications working from Bitsy to a device that uses RTS/CTS flow control?

I saw on the website that:
- COM3 has loopbacks to the PC for DTS, DSR
- COM1 has no loopbacks to the PC, but supports CTS and RTS
- COM2 has no loopbacks to the PC, and does not support CTS, nor RTS.

Thanks for your posting. You should be able to use hardware handshaking on both COM1 and COM3 of the Bitsy.

I tested serial communications using the CE terminal application with hardware flow control turned on, and I was able to communicate with a PC without any trouble. I was using Bitsy build 3.17.

At times I have found that Hyperterminal will stop functioning if it gets confused about hardware flow control, requiring the application to be restarted. You might want to check that your PC terminal application is still working.

If the problem persists, please let us know the build of CE that you are using.
