We are currently trying to interface a SD card to the Bitsy X running CE5.0. The issue is that when the card is inserted it is not detected by the OS. We use the following pins on J7 pin 5 SD chip select, pin7 MOSI, pin8 MISO, pin9 SPI CLK, pin10 card detect. When a ground is placed on pinm 10 I would expect to see the CS asserted; this is not happening. Is the wiring correct or are other drivers required?

Hi,
The BitsyX product is not positioned for future development. But you can contact us at support.us@eurotech.com for specific information on making your desired SD card connection.
We can also direct you to who to talk to for upgrading to the BitsyXb product which has not gone end of life.

Sorry should have posted that we are using a BitsyXb product and not a BitsyX.

Appologies

I understand that a dongle is required to interface an SD card to the BitsyXb, is it possible to get schematics of this dongle so that it can be integrated into my design.

No dongle is necessary. The interface you seek is on your Bitsy family personality board. See Topic 409 for schematics and mechanical drawings.

4/14 - Sorry I was too hasty in replying. The documents you need have not yet been posted, but will be soon. Stay tuned for more details!

The Bitsy G5 connector board will work with the Bitsy Xb, though you will need a new BitsyXb build to get the Ethernet to work. You can use the Bitsy G5 connector board schematic at Topic 2552 to create your own SD/MMC design. You can also purchase a G5 personality board from our ADS Sales group, if you like.

(The topic of this post has been changed from BitsyX to BitsyXb for the benefit of our other readers.)

Further to the last response on this subject, we have replicated the SD card circuit shown for the G5 personality board and interfaced this to the bitsyXB board that we have. When the card is inserted there is short burst of activity on the MMCLK, MMCMD and MMCDAT0 lines, but no activity on the MMCCS0 or MMCCS1 chip select lines (which we would have expected). We have confirmed that all the connection are as defined in the G5 personality circuit, and even tried a different BitsyXb board in case the initial one was defective.

Can you confirm if we need a firmware update or have to do something else to see the SD card circuit work correctly.

Note: We have also verified thast the SD card is operating correctly.
