Q: Why does my 8-bit image look different on my ADS CE device than it does on my PC?

In "8-bit" mode, the StrongARM processor uses a 12-bit palette to generate colors. Most PCs use a 16-bit palette. Unless you have very fine gradations in color, you will not normally see this difference in 8-bit mode.
