Does anyone have any experience setting up the Bitsey to use the LinkSys PCM100 EtherFast card? (or any other NE2000 compatible card? ) I modified ADSLOAD.HWT by uncommenting the line "When you have Ethernet chip on Compact PCMCIA Address" in order to enable the use of this NE2000 compatible card. However, I cannot get Bitsey to recognize that the card is even there.
We are using verison 4.1 build 4.17 of CE.Net found on this site as recommend by Drew Kidder. We need to have ethernet capability for debugging.

Hi,

Some of LinkSys PCM100 EtherFast Card is NOT NE2000 Compatible.
We experienced some version of PCM100 worked as NE2000, but some didn't

If it requires driver of card on your PC (Win98 or Win2K), it is not NE2000 card.

I have the ethernet working on a bitsy + CE.NET (Build 4.13). I searched the hardware table for the entry that you have mentioned, but I could not find an entry by that name.

I use a CF-Ethernet interface, which inturn sits on a PCMCIA-CF interface, thus using the PCMCIA slot to connect.

I have to down load a couple of files & key in a really long command though to be able to debug over the ethernet.

Hi Dan. We tested the Etherfast cards (PCMPC100) some time ago. The version 2 cards worked fine in CE systems, but the version 3 cards are no longer NE2000 compatible.

As we've discussed, we've found the Hawking CF686TX card to be a very reliable bet for use with CE systems. It's available at a number of retail outlets that we use, plus many others. Here are a few links that I spotted in a recent web search:
  1. Buy.com http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10275714&loc=101

  2. CDW.com http://www.cdw.com/shop/search/Results.aspx?key=cf686tx

  3. Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00006593Z/104-0915032-6114315?vi=glance

  4. Electronics Plaza

Manufacturers don't write as many drivers for the CE market as they do for the general PC Windows market. We continue to recommend the Hawking card for its reliability and market availability.

What are the setup steps for the Hawking card? I tried using mine today, and it's as if the system doesn't know it's there at all.
Thanks,
-Patrick

I also face the same problem when I use the hawking card. I followed the setup instructions that came with the box, but it did not help things either.

Thanks
