ADSmartIO supports a SIOSetSpeaker(Duration,Tone) for the 8003 version can I use this on the bitsy x system. If not can you tell me if I can generate a fixed freq. tone on the bitsy x system and how do I do it?

Thanks for your note. The SIOSetSpeaker function was for a specific project and hasn't been included in other ADSmartIO releases.

The easiest way to to play a tone is to create a WAV file and use the audio playback APIs in CE. Cool Edit from Syntrillium used to be an easy way to do it (especially with their free evaluation version), but Cool Edit was bought by Adobe in May 2003 and is a pricey product called Audition. There are other options out there, I'm sure, for this kind of simple work.

Drop me a line if you'd like us to put together a couple tones for you to test with.

p.s. I hope you don't mind that I updated the subject line from "audio tones" to more clearly identify this thread.
