Q: I see sometimes see "timeout" messages when I use the PING application even though I know the device is present.

PING reports how long it took to make a connection with another computer. If network activity is high, it may take longer to connect. You can increase the duration to timeout with the -w parameter. If you only get timeout messages, make sure your Ethernet is connected properly and check the address you are pinging.
