Q: I can't connect to the Internet, even though I can ping other computers on the network. Does my proxy server have anything to do with it?

Yes. In Internet explorer, select View, Internet Options and enter the proxy server and address. You can also set entries in the ADSLOAD.REG file as follows:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
"ProxyEnable"=dword:1
"ProxyServer"="servername:nnnn"   ; where nnnn is the port number
