The Familiar distribution from handhelds.org is a linux distribution for the HP/Compaq iPaq PDA. There are 2 primary distributions. The first is known as GPE and it includes xwindows. The second is known as OPIE and it includes Qt.

You can download these distributions from the handhelds site and install on an Xscale board running 2.4.19_rmk7_pxa2_adsx4 or later, the GPE or the OPIE release.

On an SA1110 board running 2.4.19_rmk7_ads5 or later you can install OPIE. (GPE would not work on the SA1110 boards without modifications to the touchscreen driver).

This compressed tar file
contains information, scripts and instructions for installing GPE and OPIE on ADS boards.

Please note that this is only a first step and some of the GPE and OPIE PDA functionality is not integrated with the hardware (for more information see the README file in the download).

We welcome bug reports, suggestions, and most of all your additions and improvements.
