Q: How can I create a dial-up connection using an external modem?
Connect the modem to the serial port of your choice.
In Remote Networking (Start menu, Programs, Communication) make a new connection.
Select Dial-up connection. Optionally, you can name your connection.
Select the serial port or PC card modem you want to use.
Under Configure..., select the baud rate and hardware flow control. Press OK.
In the next window, enter the telephone number. To bypass CE's automatic dialing prefixes, check the "Force local" and enter the full phone number under "Telephone number".
After pressing the Finish button, double tap the connection icon to establish the connection.
