BitsyX Quad UART Personality Board
Schematic

We have created a reference design that adds four more serial ports to the popular BitsyX Ethernet Personality Board product. This reference design includes the following features:
  • Four additional nine-wire EIA-232 serial ports (option for 3.3V logic level)

  • 10/100BT Ethernet (SMSC LAN91C111)

  • Interrupt and chip select controller

  • Same connectors and features as Bitsy Personality board, including
    • USB host and function ports

    • EIA-232 buffers for Serial 2

    • 2mm headers for Serial 1-3 from XScale

    • Real-time clock battery

    • Audio speaker headers; microphone and headphone jacks

    • Four-or five-wire touch panel connector

    • PS/2 keyboard connector

    • IrDA transceiver (with option for 7-pin header)

    • LCD signal header

The quad UART reference design is based on the rev A Bitsy Personality Board and incorporates corrections to issues identified through November 2003. It is electrically and mechanically compatible with rev A and later BitsyX systems (same as rev A Personality Board).

A couple of ADS customers have used this design with their products. We have verified that the devices work with the current releases of Windows CE and Linux (2.4.19...adsX6) for the BitsyX.

We do not currently manufacture this design. If you are interested in adding more serial ports for your BitsyX application, please contact us with details about your requirements. We'd be glad to work with you.
