The inverter will not be powered through J12 when the bitsy board is powered from battery. Will the signals BACKLIGHTON and BACKLIGHTPWM be present on J12 when powered from battery?

Yes. The backlight control signals are always available. The only caveat is that the BACKLIGHTON signal is open collector. It includes a pull-up to the backlight power supplied at Bitsy J3.48 (Bitsy Connector Board J16.1). If your backlight inverter has its own pull-up(or doesn't need one), you wouldn't need to connect backlight power to the Bitsy.
