Is it possible to do a dump of the WinCE system running on a BitsyX in order to make a backup in case the hardware fails and we have to clone it?
Thanks

Sure. The CE image (OS) is easy to "clone" because it is a single, monolithic file that is stored in "ROM" where it cannot be changed. You can store that file separately.

The only other things that change are data that your application changes and entries that you make directly or indirectly to the system registry.

Hive-based builds save changes to the registry to the flash disk. I haven't ever tried it, but you could probably copy those files out to a backup to be restored to another system. However, presumably you know how/when your application is changing the registry, and could reproduce the changes as part of the installation on a new system.

Your application data would be the the most important information to transfer to the new system. HYou know best how you transfer that information to a backup.

In short, a standard install of the OS, followed by a standard install of your application and finished with a copy of your application data should be sufficient in most cases to perform a complete clone of your original system.

I hope this information helps. Let us know if there are more details we can help with.
