Q: Is there a terminal application for CE? I would like to test a connection to a remote serial device.

Yes. Set up the CE dial-up connections as follows:
  1. Open the Terminal window (Start->Programs->Communication->Terminal)

  2. Double-tap on "Make New Session"

  3. Under "Select a modem", select "Hayes Compatible..." for the serial port you want to test.

  4. Press the "Configure..." button.

  5. Enter the desired baud rate and flow control in "Connection Preferences"

  6. Check the "Manual Dial" box, then OK

  7. Put anything in the "Telephone number" field, then OK
When you double-tap the session you created, a window opens to allow you to communicate with other serial devices. You can copy data from other applications and paste it into the window.

You can also use the ADS COMTEST application for serial testing.
