Our Linux Catalyst dev systems support IDE controller and boot from the IDE disk drive. Moblin, and Ubuntu 8.04 “Hardy Heron” are the reference Linux we have been using. We also have heard that our customers are using Fedora Core. One item that some distributions may need to check is the following:

For Ubuntu 8.04 “Hardy Heron” the flag to append to the installer command line is

all-generic-ide


This flag may also exist in the Fedora installers but it may not work exactly the same for Fedora as in Ubuntu 8.04 “Hardy Heron”. This driver needs to be running for the installer and boot code to run properly.
