Hello,
Setting the flag "LaunchCEShell" to "1" in the ADSLOAD.reg file doesn't enable the Windows CE 5.0 desktop after a system power up. This issue only happens with 4 BitsyXb boards that’s supplied, and works fine in all other boards.
Some internal debug done here tells that this flag is in fact getting written with the new value to the registry, but somehow the desktop is still not being enabled. So after the boot up, it goes directly to loading the application, rather than opening the desktop.
Any help is welcome.
Thanks in advance.

It sounds like your application may be obscuring the desktop, which would be the expected behavior in a final product.
Are you trying to get to the CE desktop, even though your application is running? If so, either close your application or try pressing the Windows-E key combination to bring up Windows Explorer.
If you can provide more details of what you want to do, and how it is different from what you normally do, we may be able to better assist you. Let us know how we can help. |

The behavior of the CE desktop registry settings in the 4 boards and in the remaining boards are totally different. In boards that doesn’t have the issue, it never hides the desktop. The desktop can be accessed via the task bar. So there seems to be some inconsistency in the way the 4 boards are behaving.
In further testing it was noticed that changes to sound and day light time savings are getting updated in the registry and also takes effect in the monitor. So the problem seems to be only with loading the CE desktop. Also tested the CE desktop registry settings by updating the application software, and it was found that the corresponding registry values for CE desktop are in fact getting written to the registry, but somehow that’s not taking effect.

generic,
Since this issue is happening only with the four boards and not your others, it's possible the registry is corrupted. Our suggestion is to (try this on one board) erase the flash and reload the OS and application, then note the operation.
We are anxiously awaiting your status on this attempt...

OS was re-installed, but it didn’t make any difference to the way it was working earlier. |
