Q: When I try to play my AVI file, I get the message "Can't open file..." I thought CE could play AVI files.
The WinCE DirectX libraries currently support the MPEG1 and Cinepak video codecs. You may have an AVI file that was recorded using the MS-CRAM, IR32 or other codec (on your desktop PC, look at the Details tab of the file's Properties for information about the file). If you try to play an AVI file created with a different codec, you will get the message that it cannot open the file. See the list of DirectX features for further details.
For further reading about Windows CE audio, please see the CE Audio topic index.
I have a VGX with winCE.net 4.20.XX and it will not play AVI files, even the ones on this website that are recommend for testing purposes and use the Cinepak codec. Does the VGX running CE 4.20 support AVI files?
