We tried the Sierra Wireless AirCard 550 (Sprint 1xRTT) and the AirCard 300 (CDPD) cards.
Neither seemed to work.
Looking at the 300s specs at: http://www.sierrawireless.com/ProductsOrdering/spec_300nb.html
I see its Power Consumption listed as: 5V Sleep Typical: 2 mA Transmit Typical: 500 mA, Max: 650mA
You spec listed at: topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=205 shows a max of 5V 500mA is this correct?
I noticed hardware mods on the power for using the cisco cards (topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=192) is this needed to boost the power ratings? and if so what is the post mod rating?
You list the AirCard 300 on your Third Party Hardware List (topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=307) Is this on post mod power mod units? or should it be able to run on any?
Thanks, Gary Lund Sunrise Telecom |

Hi Gary:
Thanks for your note. We have used the AirCard 300 on our products, though it's been a couple years since we've had one in-house.
Do I recall correctly that you're using a Graphics Master? It could be that the PCMCIA power transistor is getting stretched by that card, but it could also be that you just need to install the drivers for it.
Why don't you drop me a line or give me a call (US 301.490.4007 ext 122) and we can walk through the various issues that could be involved.

We are using a Graphics Master.
One of our customers finally got a linksys card to work, but unfortunatly the card makes the screen flicker and jump (just like it does when using a flash storage pcmia card when coping files).
Did the cards you guys test also have the flickering screen problem? |

Hi Gary. Thanks for the details.
The screen flicker has to do with the StrongARM bus architecture, but can be resolved by changing the timing of your display drivers. Take a look at topic 88 for details.

Hi Andrew,
We found that some Cisco Aironet 350 wireless PCMCIA cards don't work with GMaster's built-in driver (version 2.20.05).
So, I downloaded the latest driver (version 2.30.11) and copy it to "\FlashFx Disk" folder and change the registry keys as follows:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Cisco] "ImagePath"="\FlashFx Disk\Cisco.dll"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Cisco1] "ImagePath"="\FlashFx Disk\Cisco.dll"
They worked, but not on power-up. I have to unplug and replug it.
Is there any other way to activate it after power-up? or the new driver has to be built into GMaster's firmware?
Thanks a lot, Renyi C-Card |
