When we purchase an ADS board with say Windows CE v3.0 preinstalled has the unit got all the necessary software licenses or do we need to purchase those ourselves separately?

We usually purchse the license from Microsoft license distributor such as BSquare, Venturcom, etc. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think the fee we paid for the ADS board include the CE license fee.

Good questions. Here's how we at ADS have been handling license purchases:

  1. Development Systems
    The CE license is part of the purchase price of all development systems.


  2. Production Systems
    The Windows CE license is not included in the pricing we provide for production orders. In our sales proposals, we give you the option of purchasing the Windows CE license or providing proof of purchase from another vendor.
Check with your buyer and the ADS sales documents to determine where you purchased the CE licenses.

Note that changing the CE version typically requires purchase of a new license, and that using a different size CE .NET 4.2 build may trigger a change in license cost.
