Q: When I create a partnership, I get an error message on my desktop computer that a partnership with that device name already exists. What can I do to continue?
When you reset or turn off the power to your CE device, the partnership settings are lost. Try one of the following:
1. If you don't need to synchronize to an application on your desktop PC or to use an Ethernet connection (below), you can create a "Guest" connection. Answer "No" to the dialog that asks if you want to create a partnership when you first connect.
2. Change the suggested partnership name slightly (e.g. "GC2"). ActiveSync will change the CE device name and create a partnership with that new name.
