Q: I get the following Communications Error when I try to connect ActiveSync over Ethernet: "Cannot start communications with the desktop computer. The computer is not available or busy and currently cannot accept connections." I successfully followed all the steps above to create an ActiveSync connection. What else can I do?
Any of the following may cause this error:
1. The host computer may still have the previous serial ActiveSync connection still open. Wait until ActiveSync on the host computer reports that it is not connected (you can disable all Connection Settings to speed the process). 2. The host computer may not have Ethernet and remote access (RAS) enabled for ActiveSync. In ActiveSync, select File and Connection Settings. Confirm that the box is checked next to "Enable Ethernet and RAS server connection with this computer." 3. Make sure that your host computer is not using the network heavily (downloading files, etc). 4. Local area network traffic may also make a connection difficult. Consider using a switch instead of a hub if the problem persists.
