Q: What power supplies do you use with your evaluation systems? What voltages are on the various pins?
Power supplies that in ADS evaluation systems supply both 5 and 12V. A common one that we us is the Artesyn SCL25-7618. Approved supplies use a mini DIN8 plug.

Two common cable adapters that we use to connect to these power supplies are the 610110-4009A (GC+, GM, et al) and the 610111-80010 (Bitsy personality board).

Drew, I replaced the 5V/12V 2.5Amp power supply that came with the kit with a single 5V 4AMP power supply. When I turn the device on the backlight is only lightling up a third of the way. I switched back to the orginal power supply and than the backlight lights up 100%. I need to use the new power supply because I need the extra amps. I don't believe I need 12V for any of the hardware components, which is why I went with a single 5V. Is it possible that the backlight uses 12V? Or, do I need to make any changes either on the board or in the reg?
Please help..
Thank you, Jarret |

Jarret,
The standard backlight inverter shipped with our development systems is a Xentek LS520, which requires 12V. You can see the wiring for the inverter plus download the datasheet from Topic 524. |

I can not find a dual 5V/12V powersupply that has 4amps on the 5V. The closest I've found was the Artesyn SCL25-7605, which has a single 5V with 4AMPs. Do you guys know of any?
Thank you. Jarret |

I found the following supply from Elpac. It provides dual 5V and 12V output with 3AMP output for the 5V. The power supply that came with the dev kit is 25Watts. This supply is 42 Watts. Does this matter? The power supply also has a 5 pin connection so I will have to convert to 8 pin.
Here is a link. It's Model W4221-D5. http://www.elpac.com/W42.HTM Tell me what you think.
Thank you, Jarret |
