Hello,

I have a new AGX Development system with a 10.4" Sharp LQ104S1DG21 Display and a MicroTouch RES-10.4-PL4 touch screen.

Booting up in normal mode, the display looks fine. However, the touchscreen does not work properly. The most I can make it do is flicker a bit if I run my finger down the row of icons on the left side of the screen.

I wanted to upload the .reg and .hwt to use in getting help on this issue. However, given the displayed menu (shown below), I don't know how to do that. It's not the same menu I see in the Getting Started Guide or on my old GC system. I'm looking for the "6] Display Files in the Flash" option.

Ethernet Boot Loader Configuration:

0) Display Register
1) Set Register
2) Dump Memory
3) Boot delay: 0 seconds
4) DHCP: Disabled
5) Erase Flash Memory
6) ST16C554 UART Test
7) Program RAM image into FLASH (Disabled)
8) Program SMSC MAC address
9) Boot device order: PCMCIA -> CF -> SMSC
A) Download image from ATA card
B) Copy CE Files from ATA card to Flash Memory
C) Launch Existing Flash resident Image now
D) Download image now (Ethernet)
E) Test Memory (DRAM)
f) IP address: 0000
g) Subnet mask: 0000
h) # bootme's: 0

The AGX boot menu is indeed different. To extract your REG and HWT files, first check in the Control Panel to see if you have the 'Configuration' applet, which is in the newer AGX builds and allows file import, export and viewing. If it's not there you can use ADSLOADExtract.exe to dump the files into the device's \Temp directory.

It's also easy to intiate recalibration using a keyboard. Take a look at the notes I posted at topic 1287 for details.

I guess you're converting your Graphics Master development system over to the AGX? Let us know how we can help!

Ok, Thanks. I guess I will need to connect a keyboard and/or mouse since the touchscreen is out of commission. Can I connect both at once? Does the system only drive a USB keyboard or can I find a cable for use with the J9 socket? I looked around in the AGX User's Manual and the various topics on this site and did not find the information. I was using the 2 PS/2 ports on the Graphics Master for keyboard and mouse and they always worked well.

thanks,
Tom.

Hi Tom. You can use USB and PS/2 keyboards at the same time. A USB mouse will work, too.

I recommend hooking up a USB keyboard, since the connector is already on the AGX. You can use the keyboard from your PC since it only takes a minute to recalibrate the AGX touch panel as described in topic 1287.

I just tried a keyboard that has an on-board USB hub with a USB mouse plugged into that (so a mouse plugged into a keyboard, which is in turned plugged into an AGX) and it worked fine on build 4.10.12.

I plugged in a Microsoft USB Wheel mouse into J1. I powered the machine. It was in Debug Mode (dip switch one set off). I powered down and reset SW1. I powered up and got a trashed display. I unplugged the mouse and tried again. I am getting an error message:
Data Abort: Thread=83f62000 Proc=8104f2bc 'device.exe'

CADSFileOnBoardFlash::GetNextLine::SetFilePointer failed
REG_Init::ParseF.ParseFile() failed

I checked and reseated the video, touchscreen and flash cards. I am seeing D9 green and D7 Red.

Here is the entire boot output:

Hi Tom:

It looks like your registry file has gotten corrupted ("REG_Init::ParseF.ParseFile() failed"). You might take a look at them to see what got messed up, or you can zip the files you're using and send them to us to check out.

You might also consider pulling down the latest AGX build and configuration files. We released build 4.10.12 last week.
