Q: What are CAB files?

Many software packages for mobile computing devices use CAB files to install the application. CAB files contain all the data and application files, registry entries and drivers required for the application.

Until CE 3.0 was released, Microsoft only supplied a CAB file extractor (WCELOAD.EXE) for HPC platforms (ADS StrongARM products are HPC Pro devices). ADS now includes the CAB file extractor as standard in its builds of CE.
