I want to connect a low current LED to an ADSmartIO configured as output.
What is the maximum output current an ADSmartIO can deliver?
Many thanks.

Hi Didier:

Your best choice is to use ADSmartIO channels SMTIO0-5, which can sink up to 20mA. Make sure to use the correct current-limiting resistor for your application.

ADSmartIO Row and Col outputs (ports A and C) are not as good a choice, as they have 1k series resistors. If you connect a 2V LED to the 3.3V power supply, the best you can expect is 1.3mA [(3.3-2V)/1k_ohm]. The 5V supply could work for low-current LEDs, however [ (5-2V)/1k = 3mA ].

These and other electrical specifications are listed in the back of the Graphics Master User Manual (topic 205).

Best regards,

Drew Kidder
