Q: Why doesn't the touch panel respond when I try to close a window by tapping in the upper-right corner?

Your touch panel may not be calibrated well. From the Control Panel, tap the Stylus icon. Select Recalibrate and carefully press an release the center of each crosshair. If you installed the touch panel yourself, make sure that the active area of the touch panel covers the entire display area.

I have calibrated the panel many times, but the alignment remains seriously out. Using a Bitsy Xb with CE 5.00.14. Could my touch panel be faulty?

Is it a standard 6.4" panel or is it larger?

Yes, 6.4" panel, as shipped with your standard development kit.

We have noted some touch screen performance issues with build 5.00.14, and are currently working on fixing this problem. We will update the BitsyXb CE build page when a new build is released with the fix.
